Daimler AG engages in the development, manufacture, distribution, and sale of automotive products, including passenger cars, trucks, vans, and buses worldwide. It operates in four segments: Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, Daimler Financial Services, and Vans, Buses, Other. Mercedes-Benz Cars segment designs, produces, and sells Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, including S-Class, E-Class, C-Class, A-Class, B-Class, M-Class, R-Class, GL-Class, and G-Class; Maybach luxury sedans; and smart compact passenger cars. Daimler Trucks segment manufactures and sells Mercedes-Benz trucks, Freightliner trucks, Sterling trucks, Western Star trucks, Thomas Built buses, and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks and buses. Daimler Financial Services segment offers financing and leasing packages for its retail and wholesale customers in the automotive sector; and financing to dealers for vehicle inventory and property, plant, and equipment purchases. This segment also operates the Mercedes-Benz bank that offers leasing and sales financing services, car savings plans, credit cards, and demand deposit accounts, as well as insurance brokerage and fleet management services, including dealer property and casualty insurance. Vans, Buses, Other segment offers Mercedes-Benz vans; and city buses, coaches, intercity buses, midi buses, and bus chassis. It sells buses under the Mercedes-Benz, Setra, and Orion brands; and bus chassis under the Mercedes-Benz brands. This segment also includes equity investments in EADS N.V., a supplier in the aerospace and defense sectors; and Chrysler Holding LLC, which designs, manufactures, assembles, and sells cars and trucks under the Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge brands. Daimler AG markets its products and services through dealers and wholesale distributors, as well as through its own retail outlets. The company was founded in 1883. It was formerly known as DaimlerChrysler AG and changed its name to Daimler AG in 2007. Daimler AG is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.
